Beccie Holton

First-Class BA Counselling & Psychotherapy, BACP Registered

If you've experienced trauma or abuse, you'll know what it's like to feel out of control of your thoughts, your emotions, and sometimes even your own life. You might be living with anxiety, low mood, PTSD, or overwhelming feelings that don't seem to make sense. You might be questioning yourself, struggling in relationships, or feeling stuck in patterns you can't break. And you might be wondering… can therapy actually help?

I believe it can, because I've lived it. I don't just work with trauma and abuse as a psychotherapist — I've experienced it personally. I understand how deep it goes: the confusion, the shame, the anger, the fear, and the loneliness that can come with it. And I also understand how hard it can be to trust someone enough to begin talking about it.

You won't be judged here. You won't be rushed. And you won't be told what you "should" be feeling.

I often describe therapy as piecing together a jigsaw, but one where I don't get to see the picture on the box. You hold that. My role is to sit alongside you, with care and curiosity, as you begin to turn the pieces over, make sense of your experiences, and decide what feels right for you.

Our sessions are led by you — your pace, your experiences, your needs. This is especially important in trauma therapy, where feeling safe and in control is a vital part of healing. I won't make assumptions or push you in a direction that doesn't feel right. Instead, we build a space where you can begin to feel grounded, understood, and more like yourself again. This is how we begin to rebuild trust — in yourself, in others, and in the world around you.

As renowned therapist Brian Thorne said, "You can only go as far as your therapist has been." I hold this at the heart of my work. While some wounds may never fully disappear, I believe it is possible to build a meaningful and fulfilling life around them — with the right support.

Alongside my lived experience, I hold a First-Class degree in Person-Centred Psychotherapy and am a registered member of the BACP. I offer trauma-informed counselling for adults experiencing the effects of trauma, abuse, anxiety, depression, and relationship difficulties.
