How did you develop an interest in these particular areas?
Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working with individuals facing serious mental health issues in both hospital and community settings. This inspired me for assisting clients who have experienced trauma, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), abuse, childhood sexual abuse and attachment challenges. I love diving into the latest evidence-based practices and ongoing learning at trauma conferences, where I connect with others who share this vital passion. Every interaction is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference, and it is a privilege to walk alongside my clients on their paths to healing.
With over 20 years of experience in a healthcare setting, I have supported individuals and families to navigate the challenges of chronic illnesses and life-changing injuries, guiding them through profound loss and grief. I know firsthand how overwhelming such struggles can be, and endeavour to help my clients manage the complex emotions that come with them. My work extends to counselling caregivers as this is crucial in managing stress, boundaries, guilt and other difficult emotions; by using compassion-focused therapy, I help clients find the strength to continue their own difficult journeys. Focusing on health and well-being and self-care is vital and an area I can offer specialist support. I have an interest in helping clients who experience generalised anxiety, health anxiety, stress and burnout.
The other area of interest is working with people who are neurodivergent, and adults who are diagnosed later in life and need help to understand their narrative with the struggles they have faced. I also counsel parents who care for children with additional needs as I understand firsthand the complexities and difficulties that arise.
